Louisville Metro Police’s Homicide Unit has arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that took place early Saturday morning around 3:30 a.m. on the lot of the Circle K in Wilder Park, not far from the Watterson Expressway. Coretta Hale, 26, was taken into custody later Saturday morning, and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in relation to the homicide. According to Louisville police, when officers arrived on the scene, they found a man, later identified by the coroner as Stephon Garner, 37, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to University Hospital where he died. Hale returned to the scene of the crime at 4:50 a.m. and stated to the officers still present, “It’s me. I shot him.” An eye-witness stated she observed Hale shoot Garner multiple times, and leave the parking lot in a Buick LeSabre. She stated that Hale was wearing a red Circle K shirt with black pants. Detectives obtained video surveillance from the scene and observed a female matching Hale’s description walk over to Garner before shooting then leaving in the car.
