WLKY Meteorologist Chris Johnson’s Forecast

THE RESTAURANT WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL AFTER THE NEW YEAR NOW. >> NOW YEAR WL WEATHER WITH METEOROLOGIST, CHRIS JOHNSON. CHRI A VERY COLD CHRISTMAS DAY ACROSS THE REGION HERE. LOOKING AT THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, THE WARMEST WAS LAST YEAR. NOT MANY FOLKS WILL FORGET ABOUT THAT, TOPPING OUT AT 69 DEGREES. THE COLDEST, SEVEN BELOW ALL THE WAY BACK IN 1983. THE SNOWIEST, FIVE INCHES SAID BACK IN 1990. WE HAVE SOME SNOWFALL HERE. ABOUT A HALF-INCH IN MANY SPOTS. NOT TOO BAD. JUST ENOUGH TO WAKE UP THIS MORNING WITH THAT CHRISTMAS DAY FEELING. IT IS THE HOLIDAY, A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW ON THE GROUND. TEMPERATURE WISE, PRETTY COLD OUT THERE. 22 OFFICIALLY FOR THE HIGH. BUT AS 22 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. LOOKING TOWARDS DOWNTOWN, WE HAVE THE CLOUD COVER OUT THERE, COLD. TEMPERATURES SITTING AT 13 DEGREES. 2 DEGREES WITH THE BREEZY WEST WIND. MANY SPOTS IN LOWER TO MID TEENS. IT IS A FRIGID EVENING OUT THERE. THAT TREND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT AND INTO TOMORROW MORNING. IT FEELS LIKE A ONE BELOW IN BRANDENBURG. IT IS — LIKE ONE BELOW IN BRANDENBURG. IT IS COLD OUT THERE. MAKE SURE TO BUNDLE UP IF YOU ARE OUT THIS EVENING. THE COLD TEMPERATURES HANG OUT TONIGHT. TH GOOD NEWS IS THE FLURRIES WE HAD THIS AFTERNOON ARE BEGINNING TO TAPER OFF. WE SEE DRY SKIES TAKE OVER, EVENTUALLY CLEARING SKIES OUT AS THE SYSTEM PUSHES OFF TOWARD THE EAST AND NORTHEAST ALL BECAUSE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN BEHIND THIS. CLEARING SKIES EXPECTED, LEADING TO ASCENSION AS WE GET INTO SATURDAY MORNING AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURE WISE, MANY OF US BOTTOM OUT IN THE LOWER TO MID TEENS. BUT AS WINDS BEGIN TO TURN MORE FROM THE SOUTH AND WEST ONCE WE GET PAST MIDNIGHT, WE BEGIN TO WARM UP A LITTLE BIT INTO THE UPPER TEENS TO RIGHT AROUND 20 DEGREES. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE OFF THROUGHOUT YOUR SATURDAY MORNING AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON. HERE’S A LOOK AT FUTURECAST. CLEARING SKIES TAKE OVER. MOSTLY SUNNY. OVERALL, IT IS A GOOD-LOOKING WEATHER DAY. IT IS MILDER. JUMPING ABOUT 20 DEGREES FOR THOSE AFTERNOON HIGHS. IF YOU ARE MISSING SOME WARMER WEATHER, THERE’S GOOD NEWS AND THE FORECAST. ESPECIALLY LATE WEEKEND AS WE TRACK OUR NEXT SYSTEM. AHEAD OF OUR SYSTEM, PLENTY OF WARMTH AND MILD TEMPERATURES TAKING OVER AS WE GET INTO SUNDAY AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL REBOUND QUITE NICELY HEADING INTO THE 50’S FOR AFTERNOON HIGHS. LOW 20’S TODAY, TWO DAYS LATER. LOW-TO-MID 50’S, THAT IS A VAST DIFFERENCE. TONIGHT, 14 DEGREES. COLD OUT THERE. TEMPERATURES BEGIN TO RISE EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. 20 EARLY ON GOING INTO THE LOWER 40’S BY TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THAT IS BACK TO NORMAL, WHERE WE SHOULD BE THIS TIME OF YEAR. 55 FOR THE HIGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. FEW SHOWERS IN THE FORECAST. LATE SUNDAY NIGHT, RAIN CHANCES OVERNIGHT, WRAPPING UP EARLY MONDAY. LOOK AT THOSE TEMPERATURES DROPPING INTO THE UPPER 30’S AND LOW 40’S BEFORE SPIKING BACK UP NEXT MIDWEEK. NEAR 60 FOR HIGHS,
