Rain ending late, a dry start to the week

Scattered showers ending overnight with some patchy fog developing in our western counties by morning. We also have a chance for a wintry mix in the forecast. Meteorologist Mo Rose has the details…

Hey good sunday night to um W. R. Ky. Meteorologist Morro is giving you the forecast for tonight and the first half of the week that also includes a chance for snow. So we’ll talk about what’s going on right now. We do have some light scattered showers that are moving through the region as you can see on the clouds and radar everything off to the west. But it’s going to continue to push over east and we are seeing the bulk of this rain staying along I 64 points north we could see a few more start to drift to our south. But at this point we’re not expecting anything severe. In fact there’s a chance we can have a rumble of thunder but the instability just isn’t really there. So we’re expecting really just garden variety showers. Maybe a couple of heavier downpours looking ahead in our future cast. You can see that we are going to see a few more of these body showers start to develop through the late evening, but by the overnight really starts to break apart. In fact we’re clearing and then any areas that may have gotten a little bit of rain could end up with some fog developing after sunrise. So notice you see a little bit more gray on the screen. I think that’s actually picking up the possibility of some patchy fog that’s going to clear out quickly though in the early part of monday we’re going to get a lot of sunshine bringing a few passing clouds later in the day. But overall it’s going to be a gorgeous start to the week. The first half of Tuesday doesn’t look too bad either. We’re gonna be nice and warm and breezy. It’s the second half of the Tuesday that’s going to be given us all the trouble. Take a look at this very potent cold front that’s gonna be approaching our area. Uh Tuesday afternoon into the evening, going to start out with some increasing clouds and we’ll start to see a little bit of rain and then in the blue that snow not expecting any accumulation. With this, the ground has just been too warm but we could end up with seeing some snow showers actually accumulating on the tops of cars on your decks. So it’s just something we don’t expect to see nearing the end of april. So at this point the system is a quick mover may just dump some showers, a little bit of wet snowflakes in there. A wintry mix there will switch over into the pink and then it’s out of here. But Wednesday morning this is going to dry out quickly but also come with some chilly air. So it’s going to be a quite cold for the middle of this week and it’s going to stick around for a little bit this whole winter fighting back at spring, this is Tuesday night into Wednesday and as you can see those blue arrows pushing in that colder air behind the cold front. And it’s going to stick around, take a look this high pressure which will keep us dry for the middle to the end of next end of the week, but it’s also going to be circulating that cooler air into the region as far as tonight goes, we are not going to be too cold. We’re actually right on par for where we should be for this time of year, mid forties for overnight, low scattered showers, they’re out of here. We could see some overnight fog developing and then for tomorrow. Seasonable, we should be around 69 or 70 68. Not too bad. It’s gonna be a mix of clouds and sun and then Tuesday, Tuesday looks beautiful at least the first half of the day. It’s going to be warm and breezy low seventies. Then that cold front moves through, drop some rain mixing in some what snowflakes and it’s going to be a chilly start Wednesday morning and we’re struggling to get out of the forties, a high of only 47 then thursday we’ll bring in a little bit of sunshine. It’s going to be a chilly start though, 35 with some patchy frost, 63 on friday, we got rain back in the forecast briefly on saturday with a high of 60 then we’ll start to dry out on sunday with a high of 64. So yeah, quite the weather whiplash in our seven day forecast folks, but I hope you have a good sunday night and we’ll check in with you again in the 11 o’clock news
