A Louisville Metro Police Department officer is facing criminal charges, accused of mishandling seized drugs.The LMPD Public Integrity Unit served a criminal summons Friday on Officer Tyler Gelnett, charging him with one count of Official Misconduct and one count of trafficking in marijuana.According to a criminal complaint, Gelnett was on duty when he seized marijuana from people in the community. He’s accused of giving that marijuana to his girlfriend.The complaint states that during a recorded interview, the girlfriend admitted she had received the drugs and gave officers the paraphernalia she had been gifted.Documents say the marijuana transfer went on from Dec. 2019 to April 30, 2020.Gelnett has been reassigned pending a Professional Standards Unit investigation. He has been employed by LMPD since June of 2018.
