A 4-year-old boy remains in a hospital after he was shot in the head Wednesday.Hillview Police Department Chief William Mahoney said the shooting was reported around 11:50 a.m. near the 200 block of Bigwood Way.When offices arrived, they found the boy with the gunshot wound to his head. They also found a woman with injuries from an apparent assault. The injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening.Meanwhile, the boy was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital in critical condition, according to Mahoney. He said the boy is listed in stable condition as of Wednesday night.”That poor little boy,” said neighbor Rose Harvey. “It just breaks my heart to think about him.”Mahoney said a man was also found at the scene with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.According to police, witnesses told officers they saw the woman with the boy running from the home on Bigwood Way. They said the man rushed after them, where he apparently knocked the woman down before assaulting her. He then reportedly shot the boy.The man, who has not yet been identified, made his way back to the home, where he shot himself in the head, according to investigators.Police are still investigating the shooting, which Mahoney says is likely a domestic situation.”There’s no reason for somebody to do something like this,” said Harvey. “Nothing is that bad.”Mahoney said a 5-month-old baby was also home at the time of the incident but was not injured.
