Former University of Louisville football player Colin Holba can now add “author” to his resume. Holba, a former NFL player, recently wrote the book “Leap!”Holba said he wrote the book after one of his friends told him to write down his thoughts after he was cut by the New York Giants last year. The book’s message is to help people find their true identity and purpose, not only those based on things like athletic ability. “We’re here, everywhere for a specific platform,” said Holba. “I prayed a lot about– I wanted to stick on a team and that just wasn’t my platform. But the number of guys I’ve been able to reach and bringing that to coaching and just being a part of six different staffs in the NFL– Just everything’s got a purpose. And when you view your passion as a way to fuel your purpose, you’re going to be fulfilled in your spot versus trying to find purpose out of your passion, which just leaves you empty a lot of times.”The book was released in late July. Holba has spoken about the book a couple of times, like when he spoke to the staff at Buckner Alternative School in La Grange earlier this month. Holba is currently on the coaching staff at Christian Academy of Louisville.
